Day 1 (10/03/11):
My Footprint Counts

This morning Whaea Jeanette introduced a 'Getting to Know You' icebreaker called Fact Finding with Flags.  We were given paper, sticks and felt pens to create flags.  On side one of the paper we had to draw or symbolise - One important thing about me and side two - One thing you don't know about me.  We then shared our flags as a group.

Whaea Jeanette spoke briefly about today being St Patricks Day and flags of the world.  We broke again into groups and were given 10 minutes to match up 21 flags with countries.  A powerpoint presentation of that information also follows:

Intention: We are learning about digital photography in Powerpoint and how to take great snapshots.

We have TWO digital photography tasks to choose and complete from a list of four activities:
Tech Team C -
1. Five Important Things About Me
2. 6 Word Digital Memoirs (Food)
3. I Spy - (6 Everyday Objects)
4. Theme Scavenger Hunt (9 Things That Can Be Found In A Bag

Success Criteria - We know we have achieved taking great snapshots when our photographs...
  • are original
  • are sharp and in focus
  • are taken using different angles and frames
  • show elements of subject matter, light and composition
  • are interesting and varied
  • demonstrate the 'thirds rule'
Whaea Jeanette showed us examples of the tasks and shared the criteria we would need to focus on.
The latter part of our morning was spent gathering photos.

Final presentations have since been group together, saved as tasks in pdf files and uploaded to this blog via the web2 tool Slideshare.  Take a glimpse at our efforts (NOTE - Slideshare could take some time to load and may not be supported by Mac/iPad):

Our day came to a close as we critiqued each other's work then grouped to share reflective statements with Whaea Jeanette.
